Expropriation is the forced taking of land for a public purpose.  Projects such as highway construction, sewage plants, pipelines, schools and industrial parks all require the acquisition of private lands to move forward.  These projects are necessary to allow our society to progress and operate efficiently.

All three levels of government and some utility companies have the power to expropriate land.  All procedures and compensation related to an expropriation are mandated by statute. It is important that a party to an expropriation receive proper legal advice.

Patterson Law routinely represents parties involved in all aspects of expropriation cases. Our expropriation practice is national in scope and we represent individuals, corporations, municipalities, farmers, utility companies - all classes of parties to expropriations.
