Shawn's practice focuses extensively on family law including matrimonial property, divorce and child protection. He provides advice to clients on the preparation and review of separation agreements and cohabitation and marriage contracts, settlement negotiations, divorces and separations, property rights and obligations, custody and access, child support, spousal support, and adoptions. He provides child and youth representation, acts as counsel for Guardian ad litem and as Guardian ad litem for youth in child protection matters.
Shawn is known for his client-focused approach and provides his clients with practical advice to enable them to make informed decisions. He also practices in the areas of bankruptcy, litigation and property.
Shawn attended Dalhousie University and completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1986. He graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1989 and was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1990. Shawn practiced in Halifax for nine years and moved his practice to Bridgewater in 1999.
Shawn is extensively involved in the local community. He has volunteered with numerous organizations, coaching, managing and organizing. Shawn is past board member of the Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce and the Court Facility Review Committee. He is also actively involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
