Patterson Law has further strengthened its corporate and tax law practice by bringing into the Halifax and Truro-based firm the highly regarded legal team that has practiced under the name Harris Neonakis.
Patterson Law’s managing partner Dennis James said Kate Harris Neonakis, along with the legal team she brings to Patterson Law is a perfect fit.
“Kate and her firm practice exclusively in tax, commercial and estate planning and will be great assets to our firm,” said Mr. James. “Kate brings her whole team, including Jared Schwartz, a member of the Nova Scotia Bar since 2005, the Harris Neonakis’s staff and two outstanding paralegals.”
For her part, Kate Harris Neonakis said she and her colleagues are excited about joining the Nova Scotia firm with “a well-earned reputation for exceptional client service.”
“It is a great opportunity for us, to help build an already growing tax and estate planning practice. And it’s very positive for my clients. I will be able to access an even greater depth of corporate services,” said Ms. Harris Neonakis.
Patterson Law’s roots run deep in Nova Scotia, and just over two years ago lawyers in the firm decided to buck the mega-firm trend, rejecting a merger with a regional firm in order to build a Nova Scotian practice, with offices in Halifax and Truro.
Today’s announcement is in keeping with the firm’s Nova Scotia growth plan, and Mr. James said it will only improve the firm’s commitment to well-balanced, accessible legal counsel and services for each and every client.
A graduate of Dalhousie Law School, Kate Harris was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1989. Now Kate Harris Neonakis, she is a leading practitioner in tax law and practices in all areas of business and estate law.
Ms. Harris Neonakis will head Patterson Law’s tax and estate planning group and will practice out of the firm’s Halifax office.
With this move, Patterson Law has grown to 30 lawyers serving a broad range of clients from across Nova Scotia.
